The 2018 World Cup starts this week and if soccer were played like this all the time, I have a feeling more Americans would care.
The video below shows a portion of the 3rd Annual Fastracs Auto Soccer Game in Red Hook, New York. The game uses excavators as goalies while junker cars and trucks do the ball handling. According to the video’s description, the ball being used is 8 feet in diameter.
There’s not a ton of paint trading going on in this game, but none of the drivers are scared of making contact with the defense, especially close to the goal. The event, according to Hudson Valley radio station The Wolf, was sponsored by Red Hook excavation contractor Fastracs.
