Hilltip made its new IceStriker 500 salt and sand spreader compact for fitting on UTVs, toolcarriers, compact loaders and half-ton pickup trucks.
The company says the spreader is ideal for treating parking lots, courtyards, walkways and pedestrian paths.
It features a stainless-steel, corrosion-resistant hopper body, an inverted V with a vibrator to prevent bridging and a 2.5-inch stainless-steel auger to provide consistent flow to the spinner, the company says.
The in-cab color screen allows operators to set a fixed auger speed or have it automatically adjusted by vehicle speed. You can also control the vibrator and work light from the cab. Data can be saved to a USB memory device for creating reports.
The spreaders are also compatible with the company’s HTrack, which enables tracking and management by mobile device or computer in real-time of such things as treatment routes, vehicle speed, GPS location and material usage. That information can be used to create PDF reports. The two-way GPRS communication channel allows application rates to be set and adjusted remotely for each customer’s site, depending on weather conditions, the company says.
A pre-wet salt kit with nozzles, a pump and liquid tanks that fit within the spreader’s design is an available option.
