The American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced that Charles S. Hanskat is the new Chair of the ACI Foundation’s Strategic Development Council (SDC) effective January 1, 2019.
Hanskat is executive director of the American Shotcrete Association (ASA) and is a former Vice Chair of SDC. He received a BS and MS in civil engineering from the University of Florida in Gainesville and is a licensed professional engineer in many states. Hanskat has been involved in the design, construction, and evaluation of environmental concrete and shotcrete structures for more than 40 years.
Hanskat has been involved with the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the Florida Engineering Society (FES), and has held more than 50 committee and officer positions at the national, state, and local levels. In 2011, he received the Outstanding Reviewer Award for the Journal of Performance of Constructed Facilities.
Hanskat serves on many ACI Committees, including Technical Activities Committee Construction Standards, 301 Specifications, 506 Shotcrete, and 350 Environmental Structures. He is also active on the SDC committees, including Technology Management, Board of Direction, Technology Transfer Advisory Group, Strategic Repair Research Council, and SDC Vision 2020 Initiative.
