Looking for a new 800-hp Chevy Silverado?
If you move fast enough, you might be able to buy Speciality Vehicle Engineering’s all-new 2018 Yenko/SC Silverado Truck, powered by a custom built 6.8-liter supercharged LT-1-based engine. (Videos and additional pictures posted below).
Only 25 of these Limited Edition Yenko/SC Trucks will be built in any factory available color, and all will be based off the 2018 standard cab, short box Z71 Silverado to take advantage of the truck’s lighter weight.
The Yenko Silverado, available through Chevrolet dealers, comes with Brembo’s larger front brakes, which include 6 piston calipers and 16.1-inch Duralife vented rotors, a lowering package that includes 2-inch front lowering springs and a 5-inch rear lowering hardware package to balance that 800-hp supercharged engine.
To further enhance handling, each Yenko Silverado includes Rancho shocks, skid plates, hill descent control, automatic locking rear differential, 3.42 rear axle ratio, and a new larger diameter 1 ½-inch custom front sway bar. GVWR is 7200 lbs.
The exterior and interior graphics, the Yenko badging, and the 20-inch Torque Thrust wheels are all reminiscent of the original Yenko/SC models that started with the 1967 Camaro. Don Yenko, who owned a Chevrolet dealership in Canonsburg, Penn., equipped these cars with a 450-hp 427 which made them a competitive force against rivals Ford and Plymouth/Dodge.
Each of the 25 Yenko Silverados will include a numbered power badge, two numbered key fobs, a Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin, and a 3-year/36,000-mile limited warranty on engine and supercharger assembly, and non-powertrain components.
Speciality Vehicle Engineering Vice-president David Hamburger said a 1969 Chevy pickup that served as a Yenko shop truck inspired the build. Check out a photo below of a 1966 Yenko shop truck that’s still driven by one of the original Yenko techs.
